Diablo IV is one of the most highly anticipated games at the moment. Slated to come out in 2023, the game is currently in a closed-end beta stage. However, this is coming to an end soon, which means we’re getting closer to those coveted early access invitations being sent out. While the rest of the world is obsessing over the recent GTA VI leak, Diablo players who know what’s up are glued to their screens playing the endings of Diablo II: Resurrected, III, and Diablo Immortal.

Blizzard recently announced that select gamers will soon have the chance to test an early version of the highly anticipated next installment of its Diablo franchise. As stated above, this will be in the form of a closed beta, which means that those lucky players who are selected will have to sign an NDA to prevent any critical early game information from hitting the headlines before the game is released to the wider public.

The story of Lilith’s return is one that the developers are particularly keen on keeping under wraps until the game’s launch, so the closed-end beta will center primarily around the end game. Additionally, the beta version that players get to test will take place in a post-campaign Sanctuary.

This isn’t just a chance for gamers to test out the new game, though. This closed beta will be instrumental in the development of the final software, as a great deal of the feedback given will likely be incorporated into the game.

As stated previously, you can’t just sign up and expect to receive this particular early-access package as with other games. Instead, the developers have their eye on a very particular subset of Diablo players. ‘Specifically, we’ll be using gameplay data to invite a limited number of Diablo players who have recently spent significant amounts of time playing the end-game experiences of Diablo II: Resurrected, Diablo III, and Diablo Immortal.’

Invitations will be sent out to prospective players by the 18th of November 2022. If you’re interested, you’ll also have to head into your Battle.net account and enable the ‘News and Special Offers from Battle.net.’In the meantime, you can read about the latest Diablo IV updates.

I hail from the awe-inspiring beauty of South Africa. Born and raised in Pretoria, I've always had a deep interest in local history, particularly conflicts, architecture, and our country's rich past of being a plaything for European aristocracy. 'Tis an attempt at humor. My interest in history has since translated into hours at a time researching everything from the many reasons the Titanic sank (really, it's a wonder she ever left Belfast) to why Minecraft is such a feat of human technological accomplishment. I am an avid video gamer (Sims 4 definitely counts as video gaming, I checked) and particularly enjoy playing the part of a relatively benign overlord in Minecraft. I enjoy the diverse experiences gaming offers the player. Within the space of a few hours, a player can go from having a career as an interior decorator in Sims, to training as an archer under Niruin in Skyrim. I believe video games have so much more to teach humanity about community, kindness, and loyalty, and I enjoy the opportunity to bring concepts of the like into literary pieces.
